Aleda L. Nissen, 96, of Humboldt passed away on Tuesday afternoon, December 11, 2018 at the Humboldt Care Center North.
She was born November 22, 1922 in Bode, Iowa, the daughter of Henry M. and Cora S. (Opheim) Olson. She was raised and educated in Bode, graduating from Bode High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Gilbert R. Nissen on December 1, 1944 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The couple made their home in Humboldt all their married life. Following Gilbert’s death in 1993, she continued to maintain her home in town and was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Tony (Terri) Nissen of Lewistown, Montana, her daughter, Marlene Thompson of Humboldt, her son-in-law, James (Shirley) Jarvinen of Little Falls, Minnesota, three grandchildren, Trinity (Eric) Holden, Michael (Aileen) Jarvinen and Cooper (Katie) Thompson, five great-grandchildren, Breckyn, Jack, Ainsley, Oliver and Joey and her sister, Mildred Welch of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Linda, her brothers, Ronnie, Orville, James, Henry and Curt and her sisters, Lucille, Thelma, Charlotte, Melba and Jorine.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Humboldt. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
