Alice J. Gord, 83, of Dakota City, passed away on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Humboldt Care Center North.
She was born April 6, 1939, in Dakota City, the daughter of Osborne and Agnes (Michaelson) Johnsen. She was raised and educated in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Don Gord on June 27, 1959. The couple made their home in Dakota City where they raised their family. Alice worked for a number of years as a teller for Humboldt Trust & Savings Bank, she worked for Dr. Dunscombe’s Dental Office and later K.C. Nielsen. She was baptized, confirmed and married at First Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. She enjoyed baking and working in the yard.
She is survived by her children Stephen (Yvonnie) Gord and John (Tracey) Gord all of Dakota City and Rachel (Chris) Powell of Ladora, Iowa, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her sister Isabelle (Herman) DeWall and her brothers Harold Johnsen of Anchorage, Alaska and Robert (Linda) Johnsen of Ankeny. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and her sisters and their husbands Mary Jane (Albert) Dahlgren and Dorothy (Ron) Van Dyke.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21st at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery.
