Arlene Ann Hawkins, 71, of Fort Dodge, passed away December 2, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her husband, Floyd of Fort Dodge; her children, Steve (Jeannie) Hawkins of Sacramento, CA, Andy Hawkins of Fort Dodge, Lynn (Scott) McClelland of Tucson, AZ, and Brian (Courtney) Hawkins of Prairie Grove, AR; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Dan (Alice) Cibert of Springfield, MO; sisters, Jean Lakyle of Houston, TX, and Donna Brown of Fort Dodge; many nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Arlene Cibert, the daughter of Harvey and Inez (Purkapile) Cibert, was born January 11, 1939 at Fort Dodge. She received her education at Fort Dodge and was a member of the first class in the new school at St. Edmonds. She was united in marriage to Floyd Hawkins on January 18, 1957 and to this union four children were born.
Arlene served as the secretary for Dickie Clay Tile Company for three years and operated the canteen catering truck for two years before going to work for Child Support Recovery in Fort Dodge. The couple moved to Arkansas where she continued her work as the manager of Child Support Recovery. In 1999, she retired due to failing health and the couple returned to Iowa.
Arlene enjoyed playing cards, bowling, reading, and attending flea markets. She loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She passed away on the morning of December 2, 2010 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
