Barbara K. Gregory, 90, of Rutland, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Humboldt Care Center North.
She was born May 25, 1932, in Corinth Township, Humboldt County to Benjamin and Gertrude (Olson) Johnson. At an early age she lived with her parents on the family farm and following her father’s death she moved with her mother at the age of seven to Humboldt. She was raised and educated in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1950. Barbara worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell for a few years and later Reasoner Casket Company in Humboldt. On June 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to James Gregory and the couple made their home in Humboldt for a time before moving to Rutland in 1957. She raised her family in Rutland and enjoyed baking kringla, brownies and rhubarb pie among other things. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and the occasional trip to Las Vegas.
Barbara is survived by her sons Steve and Tom Gregory both of Rutland and her daughter Sandy Himrod of Humboldt, her grandchildren Eric (Melody) Himrod of Dakota City and Jessica Bellinger of Humboldt, her great-grandchildren Hannah Himrod, Aliyah Bastian, Monreau Bastian, Zion Green and Ezra Green, also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her brother Russell Johnson, sisters Carmen Clark and Donna Price, her granddaughter Savannah and son-in-law Tom Himrod.
Barbara’s wish was to be cremated with no visitation and a private family service. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will take place at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Cemetery in Corinth Township. www.masonlindhart.com
