Barbara A. Hart, 60, of Humboldt passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Unity Point hospital in Fort Dodge. A memorial service in her honor will be held Wednesday, July 24th at 7:00 P.M. at the Oak Hill Baptist church in Humboldt. Visitation will begin 3 hours prior to the service beginning at 4:00.
Barb was born October 30th, 1958 in Fort Dodge at the very same hospital she passed in. After completing her primary education in the Humboldt school district she went on to earn her teaching degree at the University of Iowa. After graduation, she moved to Aspen, Colorado where she met and married her first husband Scott Vanderhide and gave birth in 1984 to her daughter Megan. After dissolution of her marriage, Barb returned to Iowa where she began her teaching career at the Anthon-Oto elementary school. In 1990 she married the love of her life Brad Hart and after several years in western Iowa the family relocated to Humboldt. Barb taught 18 years in the Fort Dodge school district until she retired in 2017.
Barb spent her life caring for others. She loved teaching and was hopelessly devoted to her family. She was active in Eastern Star and was an avid piano player. She loved to read and spent much of her free time with her grandkids. She enjoyed her Friday nights at the VFW with her friends and often traveled to Daytona, Florida to spend time with her sister, Paula, at the beach-one of her favorite places to be. Barb had a knack for sarcasm and brought an unending amount of love, light, and laughter to everyone around her. She touched so many people in her earthly time and will be sorely missed by more.
She is survived by her husband, Brad (BigHorn), daughter Megan, son Jeremy (Kelly), and daughter Shannon. She also leaves behind her 8 grandchildren, 5 great grand children, sister Paula (Richard), and a plethora of amazing friends who loved her. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gladys McBurney.
