Barbara J. Lee, 88, moved from her earthly home to her eternal home on July 24th, 2020. Services will be at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28th with visitation Monday, July 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at Oak Hill Church. Mason- Lindhart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be at Indian Mound Cemetery.
Barbara J. Lee was born August 24, 1931 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Floyd and Helen (Suessmith) Robinson and was one of ten children. She graduated from high school in 1949 and in 1952 married Romaine Lee. The couple moved multiple times in their first years of marriage and while living in Omaha, Barbara worked at Boys Town.
In 1955 Romaine and Barbara purchased a hardware store in Dakota City and later acquired two hardware stores in Humboldt. They merged the stores together as Lee Hardware, which they operated for 23 years. They also purchased their first home in Humboldt where they lived for more than 60 years.
Barbara was a stay at home mother and homemaker. She made a home filled with love, happiness, good food and decor for every season. She enjoyed having guests in their home for a social time of food and fellowship. For many years, she shared about Christ’s love and salvation with the third grade Sunday school classes at Oak Hill Church. Barbara enjoyed staying active and would regularly walk with friends and go on bike rides. For several years ending in 2019, Romaine and Barbara enjoyed participating in delivering Meals on Wheels.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 68 years, Romaine B. Lee, of Humboldt and their three children: Greg Lee of Slater, Iowa, Geff Lee (Sandy) of Nashville, Tennessee and Jane (Mark) Konfrst of Slater, Iowa. She leaves behind grandchildren Zach and Jordan Lee, David, Jonathan, and Timothy Konfrst, sister Dorothy Rohde of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and sister Nancy Michael, La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
