Betty M. Maach, 94, of Humboldt, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 10, 1924 in Humboldt County, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Chumley) Hansen. She was raised on farms in Humboldt County and graduated from Humboldt High School. She later attended Iowa State Teachers College. She was united in marriage to Mason D. Maach on August 21, 1949. The couple made their home in Highview where she taught for a time, then farmed and later moved to Humboldt. Betty was active in her Christian faith, she liked to read, travel and do crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her children, Linda L. (Jason Potek) Maach of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, David R. (Gail) Maach of Humboldt and Diane (John) Tuttle of Clive, her grandchildren, Aaron Potek, Nathan (Emma Stein) Potek, Elena Potek, Brianne Tuttle, MarenTuttle and Ethan Tuttle, her great-grandchildren, Liana & Micah Potek and her sister, Dolores Lynn of Fridley, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mason and three sisters, Winifred, Edith and Dorothy.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Monday, February 18th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with a 12:00 Noon graveside service at Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Memorials in her name may be made to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital or Unity Point Hospice.
