Beulah Himrod, 88, of Humboldt, formerly of Gilmore City, passed away June 13, 2012 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City. Interment will be in Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mrs. Himrod is survived by her sons, Tim (Kim) Himrod of Havelock and Tom (Sandy) Himrod of Humboldt; grandson, Eric (Melody) Himrod of Dakota City; great granddaughter, Hannah Himrod; and Amanda and Brad Vote. She is also survived by her sisters, Audrey Green of Johnston, Lois (Lawrence) Davis of Gilmore City, and Betty Twigg of Algona and 10 nieces and nephews.
Beulah Fae Huston was born January 17, 1924, the eldest daughter of Wilmer and Amber (Cates) Huston, near Lanesboro, Iowa. At the age of seven, her family moved to a farm in the Pioneer and Gilmore City area. She received her education at Weaver #7 country school and graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1940. In 1942, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Merlin Himrod. The couple farmed in the Pioneer and Gilmore City area until 1977 when they moved to Pioneer. For 20 years, Beulah and her sister, Betty, owned and operated the B&B Lunchwagon until her retirement in 1996. Mr. Himrod passed away in December of 1996 and in 2001, Beulah moved to Gilmore City.
Beulah was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and U.M.W. where she has served in different offices and committees. For 13 years, Beulah served on the city council and as mayor of Pioneer.
