Beverly J. Kennedy

Beverly Jean (Bradburn) Kennedy passed away from natural causes on June 22, 2020 in Humboldt, Iowa.

Beverly was born to John Nathan Bradburn and Bernice Almira Knutson on August 26, 1924 in Bode, Iowa. She married Lawrence Leonard Kennedy on June 13, 1948. She graduated from Buena Vista College (now University.) She briefly taught English at Coon Rapids High School and Fort Dodge High School before marriage and later taught basic skills to mentally/physically handicapped adults at the Opportunity Center (later named Humboldt Workshop.) She was involved in Meals on Wheels, Head Start, Red Cross, den mother for Boy Scouts of America, Humboldt County Historical Society, and numerous activities with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Beverly is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Kennedy, her brothers Harley Ray Bradburn and Robert Ward Bradburn, and her grandson Luke Marcus Engelhardt.

Beverly is survived by her children Laura McVay, John (Diane) Kennedy, Joanne (Marcus) Engelhardt, Ardis (Charles) Laine, Alan (Megan) Kennedy, her sister Mara Joan Bradburn, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
