Beverly J. Nelson, 84, of Humboldt, passed away on Monday morning, March 24, 2025 at her home.
Beverly was born July 21, 1940 in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Lawrence and Alta (Ackley) Julius. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, graduating in 1958 from Fort Dodge Senior High School. She then went on to graduate from Iowa Central Community College and Buena Vista University with a degree in education. Beverly was united in marriage to Howard A. Nelson on September 29, 1961. The couple made their home in Humboldt and she taught school and was a sign language interpreter for many years in the Humboldt Community School District. In 1997, Bev continued her career in the field of education by becoming an educator for the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. There, she was pivotal in the development and implementation of the education program for over 16 years, retiring at age 73 in 2013. She was an active member of Oak Hill Church for over 60 years and taught Sunday School for 30 years. Bev loved her Lord, her family and her friends.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 63 years, Howard of Humboldt, her children Rick (Connie) Nelson of Humboldt, Susan (David) Johnson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Michael Nelson of Parker, Colorado and Steven (Tiffany) Nelson of Dakota City, her grandchildren; Amy Nelson, Joshua (Courtney) Johnson, Stephanie (Tyler) Cox, Caleb (Emilee) Johnson, Anna (Paul) Gibson, Sarah (Alex) Stewart, Rebekah Johnson, Micah (Angelica) Johnson, Abigail (Michael) Nations, Deborah (Derrick) Torres, Josiah (Jill) Johnson, Elisabeth (Gabriel) Martinez, Chase Nelson, Cambry Nelson, Natalie Wurth and Conor Wurth, thirty-three great-grandchildren, her brothers Jerry Julius of Fort Dodge and John (Marian) Julius of Milton, Florida and her sister Rhonda Koestner of Ash Flat, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28th at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. www.masonlindhart.com
