Bill D. Leadley, 87, of Humboldt, passed away April 6, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Mr. Leadley is survived by his wife, Shirley of Humboldt; daughters, Kathy (Bill) Taute of Paton, Michele (Kent) Paeper of Dakota City, and Lori (Kevin) Bauer of Paton; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Gina, Chad, Stephanie, Mark, Jennifer, and Christopher; eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Macy, Alec, Madisyn, Mylo, Brandi, Haylee, Tristan, Allysin, Tyler, and Matthew; and his sister, Loree Clarken of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bernard “Hop” Leadley.
Billie “Bill” Dean Leadley, the son of Percy and Estella (Clark) Leadley, was born July 1, 1922 at Curlew, Iowa. He was raised at Curlew and graduated from Palmer High School in 1942. Bill enlisted into the United States Army and served as a corporal during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Palmer to work with his father in the family’s hatchery. On January 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Shirley Wienke and the couple made their home at Fort Dodge. Bill worked as a butcher and as a salesman at Memorial Park in Fort Dodge. After the family moved to Humboldt, he established Bills Carpet and Floor Cleaning Service until his retirement in 2002.
Bill was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bingo and card playing, snowmobiling and horse back riding. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends and especially loved time spent with Shirley.
