Blanche M. Wallis

Blanche M. Wallis of Humboldt, formerly of Des Moines, IA passed away November 10, 2014 at Humboldt Care Center South. Per her wishes, her remains were cremated with no visitation. There will be a private family service with burial of ashes following.
Blanche Ernst was born February 2, 1925 in Humboldt, IA to Charles and Hannah (Sandvig) Ernst. She married Clarence Hauck in 1944, divorcing in 1947. She married Marvin Wallis in 1963 in Redmond, WA. He passed away in 1982. Blanche is survived by daughter, Sharon (Lou) Fontana of Humboldt, granddaughter Melissa (Darrell) Winter of Marion, IA, and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Noah Winter of Marion; siblings Carroll (Kathryn) Ernst, Thor, IA, Mildred Schmidt, Greeley, CO, and Lillian Christensen, Eagle Grove, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend of 66 years, Elva Stonebraker of Humboldt.
Preceding Blanche in death were her parents, husbands Clarence Hauck and Marvin Wallis, sister-in-law Esther Hauck, and brothers-in-law Harold Schmidt and Donald Christensen.
Blanche loved traveling, reading, snowmobiling, her dogs and cats (particularly her dog, Mickey). She enjoyed following women’s basketball, especially Drake and Iowa.
