Bradeen Short of Humboldt passed away at home on the morning of January 9, 2015. A Celebration Of Her Life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Humboldt with Pastor Doug Wolter officiating. She will be laid to rest along side of her husband, Boyd Clifton Short Sr. who preceded her in death in June 1998, at Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Bradeen is survived by her 3 children, Boyd Clifton (Dona) Short, Jr., Al (Deb) Short and Daryl Short; 6 grand children, Zachary Short, Jeremy Short, Jesse Short, Jacob (Beth) Short, Elizabeth (Josh) Dent (Short) and Isaac Short; great grandson, Tyson Short; nephew, Jimmy (Laurel) Powell and niece, Francis (James) Harper.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Algie Yarbrough and Fannie Barker Yarbrough; her 2 sisters, Aretta (Don) Mason and Lila (James) Powell; husband Boyd Clifton Short; and husband, Ronald Fisher.
Bradeen was born in Milton, NC on March 2, 1934 to Algie and Fannie Yarbrough. In 1954, she was united in marriage to Boyd Clifton Short at Milton, N.C. Boyd and Bradeen moved to Humboldt in the spring of 1963 from North Carolina. Bradeen graduated from Wake Forest University with her teaching degree in 1956. She graduated from UNI with her Masters degree in 1986. She was an educator from 1956 to 1996. She taught in North Carolina and Virginia 1956 to 1963, in Gilmore City from 1963 to 1967 and in the Humboldt School District where she taught 7th grade Language Arts from 1967 to 1996.
Bradeen enjoyed spending time with her family members, reading, refinishing furniture, decorating her home, and doing yard work. She also enjoyed going out to coffee and visiting with her friends.
