Brent Steven Licata, the son of Steven and Barbara (Osterkamp) Licata, was born September 13, 1987, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. At a month old his family moved to Humboldt where he was raised and educated graduating from Humboldt High School with the “Class of 2006”. Brent also attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where he received his Associate of Arts Degree.
He lived in Hartley and worked for Sybesma Graphics (SEE-BIS-SMA) in Sanborn for 13 years as a graphic artist with his designs recognized throughout the United States. He was involved with RiseFest in Sheldon since its beginnings with his graphic designs and attended every year. He also created designs through bld inc. Brent Licata Designs, his own label.
His faith was important to him and as young man he was active in youth group at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, attended several Promise Keepers and Acquire the Fire youth conferences. Later he became a member at Faith Community Church in Palmer. Racing was his life and he has an extensive collection of race memorabilia and die-cast model cars from all over the country. Brent enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his dog, Odie and had a love for avocados.
Brent passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Spencer Hospital at the age 34 years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his parents, Steve and Barb Licata of Dakota City; siblings: Mick (Paula) Fulwider of Bode, Carly (Kevin) Meier of Dakota City and Tiffany (Jacob) Green of Clarksville, TN; nieces and nephews: Micayla and Amanda Fulwider, Austin and Kaden Meier and Brinley and Emmalyn Medley; his dog, Odie; aunts and uncles: Tim (Bernice) Licata of Kansas City, MO, Jeff (Theresa) Licata of Bennett, CO, Lonnie (Sheri) Osterkamp of Anamosa, Cindy Stimson of Cedar Rapids, Craig Osterkamp of Anamosa, Angie Osterkamp of Charlotte, Ross Osterkamp of Anamosa and Marcy Heims of Anamosa as well as other relatives.
Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20th, 2022, at Faith Community Church in Palmer with Pastor Russ Weller officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Mason Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery in Humboldt.
