Carole Diane Halsrud, 72 of Rutland, passed away in hospice at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning, June 12, 2021.
Carole was born to Alfred and Marguerite (Bourque) Casey on February 11, 1949 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. She moved with her family from Vancouver, Canada to Compton, California in 1961. She graduated from Dominguez High School in 1969 and following graduation worked at a fine clothing store called Buffims. Carole met Gary Halsrud in Long Beach when he was in the Navy. They were united in marriage on August 19, 1972 at Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Carole and Gary liked to go on short motorcycle rides and she enjoyed their annual trip to California during the winters, staying with her sister Shirley for a month on those trips. She looked forward to spending time with her family camping and the frequent trips to Wild Rose for a little gambling. One of her favorite pass times was gallivanting around and shopping with all her girls. She liked to read romance books, putting puzzles together and a very competitive game of Scrabble.
She is survived by her husband Gary Halsrud of Rutland, daughters Dennise (John) Terwilliger of Algona and Jennifer Johnson of Johnston, her grandchildren Krystalle Brundige, Morgan Johnson and Casey Johnson and her great-grandchildren Keelun and Phoenix Brundige.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, June 17th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
