Carole J. Kirchhof, 84 of Thor, passed away on her birthday, Friday afternoon, June 4th, 2021 at Bickford Cottage in Fort Dodge.
She was born June 4, 1937 in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Lester and Dorothy (Karl) Johnson. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1955 and married Robert Kirchhof on September 25, 1955. They were married for 64 years. Carole and her husband farmed in Humboldt County and had livestock for many years. She was very active at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, Iowa. She was a Sunday school and bible school teacher for many years. She loved music and was involved in the Humboldt Community choir and the church choir. She was known to sing “O Holy Night” on Christmas Eve at Ullensvang. Carole was a 4-H leader for many years with the Beaver Wide Awake group in Humboldt County. She was a judge at the Humboldt County Fair and an election worker at the voting polls. Carole was very active in her children’s activities and attended most, if not all, of the sporting and music events. In the 1980’s, she was known to ride the Humboldt High School softball bus to far away games so that she could attend.
Carole is survived by her four daughters, Cheryl (Tom) O’Hern of Barnum, Susan Kirchhof of Mesa, Arizona, Deb (Larry) Almond of Thor and Michelle (Mark) Vetter of Huxley, six grandchildren, Brandon (Stacey) O’Hern, Kinsey (Jay) Lombard, Katie (Tyler) Witte, Connor (Kelsey) Almond and Allison & Sam Vetter, her great-grandchildren Carter & Caleb O’Hern, Koy, Hayes, Scarlett & Everly Witte, Kori, Kenna, Kadynn & Keegan Almond. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge.
