Carolyn S. Gardner

Carolyn S. Gardner, 82 of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Carolyn, the daughter of Leo and Inez (Posler) Dolecheck, was born December 2, 1937 in Leon, Iowa. She attended Star Center Country School and in 1956 graduated from Diagonal High School. Following graduation, she worked for Bankers Life in Des Moines. On December 26, 1956 she married Marion L. Gardner in Diagonal. They lived in Nebraska for a few years then moved to Missouri while Marion was in the service. After his service they lived in Humboldt for over 40 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, home projects and doing things together. Carolyn enjoyed being a housewife, gardening, flowers, knitting and crocheting. Her greatest joy was her son Gary, grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved to make goodies for especially Bohemian kolache and Gram Jam.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Gary (Jane) Gardner of Humboldt, grandchildren Joseph (Katie) Gardner of Johnston, Jeffery (Jessica) Gardner of Grimes, Krista (Kellen) Fuller of West Des Moines, great grandchildren Gracie, Everett, Bryson, Felicity, Augusta and Krew. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brother Wilfred Dolecheck.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27th with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.
