Charlene “Chuck” Wiegert, 90, of Humboldt, passed away September 25, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Humboldt with Pastor Doug Wolters officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt.
Chuck is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Peter) Reinertsen of Waterloo and Monica Johnson of Humboldt; grandchildren, Sarah Reinertsen, Amy (Josh) Federspiel, McKenzie Johnson, Christopher Cran, Lindsey Johnson, and Katie (Tanner) Phillips; Great Grandchildren, Andrew Federspiel and Collin Phillips; sister, Betty (Merlyn) Dyvig of Humboldt; and brothers, Lowell (Phyllis) Fevold of Dakota City, James (Marilyn) Fevold of Humboldt, and David (Mary) Fevold of Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Burton Cran; second husband, Emmett Wiegert; her son, Peter Cran; sister, Mary Barrett; and brothers, Ardell, Roland, and Robert Fevold.
Charlene V. Fevold, the daughter of Bertin and Florence (Saboe) Fevold, was born July 5, 1924 on a farm in Humboldt County, Iowa. She graduated from Gilmore City High School. On August 20, 1948, she was united in marriage to Peter Burton Cran and the couple made their home at Rutland where they started their family. Chuck followed her lifelong dream of nursing by going to work as a nurse’s aid at the new Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in 1970. Mr. Cran passed away in August of 1974 and Chuck continued to maintain her home in Rutland. In August of 1982, she was united in marriage to Emmett Wiegert and the couple made their home in Humboldt. Mr. Wiegert passed away in April of this year.
Chuck was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting and wallpapering with her good friend Norma Olson. She loved children and the highlight of her career was working in the nursery of the Humboldt Hospital. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, and quilting. She loved watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes and Tiger Woods and enjoyed the 25 winters she spent in Arizona. Above all she loved her family and adored her grandchildren.
