Charlotte M. Olson, 86, of Humboldt, formerly of the Hardy area, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, where she was a resident.
She was born May 8, 1932, in Hardy, Iowa, the daughter of Ottie and Clara (Larson) Axdahl. She grew up in Hardy and attended country school in the area. She graduated from Hillcrest Academy then enrolled in college at the Lutheran Brethren Bible Schools in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Charlotte then moved to Humboldt and worked as a telephone operator. She was united in marriage to Martin J. Olson on March 13, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the farm near Hardy for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. First and foremost in her life though was her family, she was dedicated to her husband and devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and in 2012 became a member of Oak Hill Church in Humboldt and was rebaptized.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Mark Jay (Carolyn) Olson of Hardy, Cheryl (Gerald) Meyer of Earlville, Illinois and Jana Olson of Dakar, Senegal, her grandchildren, Joshua, Becky, Justin and Jeremiah Olson, Megan (Jeremy) Cantlin, Jennifer (Tony) Ayala, Christina (Sean) O’Connor, Joseph Meyer (Lindsay Reynolds), her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Christopher, Connor and Hailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, her grandson, Brycen Olson and her sister, Mary Hanson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20th at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Hardy. Memorials in her name will be directed at the discretion of her family.
