Clifford H. Erickson

Clifford H. Erickson, 62, of Humboldt, passed away February 6, 2012 at his home.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Matthew Manz officiating.  Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Clifford Halverson Erickson, the son of Dale and Alice (Halverson) Erickson, was born December 7, 1949 at Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He was raised on a farm in Humboldt County where he received his education and graduated from Humboldt High School.  In 1970, Clifford enlisted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam.  Throughout his tour of duty, Cliff sent his paychecks home and following his honorable discharge, used his earnings to start his hog operations.  In addition to farming and livestock, Clifford enjoyed antique tractor restoration and collecting.  He participated in many tractor parades and antique tractor rides.  He picked corn for DeKalb for many years and helped his uncles build several houses in Humboldt.  On May 31, 1996, he was united in marriage to Ruth Schultz and the couple made their home on the farm until moving to their home in Humboldt in 2008.

Clifford was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.  He supported the Humboldt County Historical Museum and enjoyed mowing its grounds.  He liked helping his aunt Mabel, coffee with his friends, and his two dogs.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Ruth of Humboldt; step children, Steven Schultz of Boone and Jennifer (John) Stevenson of Cedar Falls; brothers, Dallas (Ann) Erickson of Oklahoma and Dyle (Barb) Erickson of Humboldt; sister, Shirley (Steve) Boomgarden of Humboldt; his special aunts, Mabel Erickson, LaVonne Pogge, and DeEtte Enfield all of Humboldt; his nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.   He was preceded in death by his parents and aunts and uncles.
