Danna R. Monaghan, 83, of Humboldt, passed away on Saturday, November 22nd at the long term care unit of Humboldt County Memorial Hospital where she had been a resident for the past four years. Funeral services will be Monday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Fneral Home in Humboldt with family visitation one hour prior to the services. Internment will take place at St. Mary’s cemetery in Humboldt.
Danna Rae Hibbard was born on January 27, 1931 in Humboldt, Iowa to John Hibbard and Helen Kelly Hibbard. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1949 where she was vice-president of the pep club, member of the student council and played basketball. She also was Humboldt’s queen for the North Iowa Band Festival.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Eugene Monaghan on June 26th, 1950. The couple made their home in Humboldt. Ralph was a veteran of the Korean War. They were the parents to five sons, Daniel, Douglas, David, Dirk and Darren. Ralph preceded her in death in 1985.
Danna was a day care provider for many years and worked as a receptionist at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was devoted in her service to the Lord and to her family.
She is survived by Dan, Doug (LeAnn), David (Cheryl), Dirk and Darren (Patty), 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and her brother Jack Hibbard (Pat).
