Darryl Fisher, formerly of Humboldt, passed away March 1, 2018 at his home in Franklin, KS. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Burial will be in Algona Cemetery, Algona, Iowa with full military rites by Adams American Legion Post 119 and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Darryl Fisher, the son of Archie “Bob” and Elsie (Wray) Fisher, was born October 12, 1939 at Algona, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Algona High School with the class of 1957. Following his education, Darryl served with the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1964. On November 26, 1961, he was united in marriage to Norma Tjaden at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Darryl farmed with his father and he and Norma made their home in the LuVerne and Renwick area. They had three children, Jean, Janet, and Michael. When they sold the farm in 1976, the family moved to Gilmore City. In addition to working for Hotsy in Humboldt, he and Norma purchased Humboldt Auto Salvage which Norma operated until the business was sold. They moved to Humboldt in 1999 and following his retirement from Hotsy, they moved to Monett, Missouri in 2003. Norma passed away in 2004. In 2006, Darryl married Alberta Combs and the couple made their home in Pittsburg, Kansas until they built their new home near Franklin, Kansas in 2007. Alberta passed away in November of last year.
Darryl is survived by his daughter, Jean (Darryl) Culver of Pocahontas; step children, Bill (Vicki) Budd, Cindy Schroeder, and Terri (Bryan) Hoffman; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie “Bob” and Elsie Fisher; wife, Norma; second wife, Alberta; son, Michael; and daughter, Janet.
