Dean E. Telford, 89 of Humboldt, passed away at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
He was born May 15, 1929, in Ottosen, Iowa, the son of Roy and Dora (Hansen) Telford. He graduated from Ottosen High School and farmed for a few years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Delores M. Moench on October 21, 1951. The couple farmed for 46 years in Ottosen and moved to Humboldt in 1997. Dean was a flying enthusiast and had both his instrument and commercial pilot’s licenses. He favored the Iowa Hawkeyes. In his retirement, he received immense pleasure from spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s events.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Humboldt, his children, Deb (Scott) Andersen of Douglas, Wyoming; Diane (Brad) Foth of Livermore; Nancy (David) Groves of Colleyville, Texas; Steve (Lori) Telford of Adel, Iowa; his grandchildren, Niki (Chris) Tietjen, Tyler Andersen, Jeff Foth, Ryan (Ashley) Foth, Katie Groves, Jonathan Groves, Taylor Telford, and Tania Telford; and his great-grandchildren, Kiera and Jake Foth. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary Telford, and his brothers, Larry Telford and Leroy Worby.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial with military honors from the Sathers-Odgaard American Legion Post will be at 1:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Ottosen. www.masonlindhart.com
