Deborah L. Dirks, 51, of Gilmore City passed away at her home in Gilmore City of Saturday, December 15, 2018.
She was born January 3, 1967 in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Kent Lavoie and Rita Baker. She was raised in Mankato and then later Shenandoah, Iowa. During High School she moved with her family to Washington State and in her early twenties returned to Iowa and lived in Des Moines and then the Fort Dodge area. She was united in marriage to James A. Dirks on August 9, 2008 in Gilmore City. The couple made their home in Gilmore City. Throughout her life, Deborah worked in retail and food service, she was a CNA for 17 years, she waitressed, bartended and was a manager at Casey’s Convenience Store. She liked working with people, was a fighter and provided for her family even when the times were extremely tough. She enjoyed crafts, peacocks and Harley Davidsons but mostly enjoyed time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of Gilmore City, her children and family, Devin Koval of Manson, Damon (Jessica) Koval of Pocahontas and Derek (Kayla) Eaton of Fort Dodge, Jamie Dirks of Fort Dodge and Jessica Dirks of Sioux City, her grandchildren, Kelan, Drake, Anthony, Christian and Huxlee, her mother, Rita Whitney of Gilmore City and her sister, Paula Christian. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Gary Guilford.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20th at First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City. Memorials in Deborah’s name can be directed to the Trinity Cancer Center, Fort Dodge.
