DeEtte A. Enfield, 92, of Humboldt, passed into the
hands of our Lord on July 2, 2014 at the Humboldt Care
Center South. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m.Saturday at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Humboldt. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
DeEtte Enfield, the daughter of Freeman and Christiana (Sorgenson) Erickson, was born November 23, 1921, the youngest of nine children at Red Cloud, Nebraska. As a young girl, the family moved to Silver Creek Ranch at St. Paul, Nebraska. Like so many of her generation, DeEtte attended country school. She graduated from Elba High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College.
DeEtte married Donald Enfield on October 9, 1945. They made their home on the farm in Beaver Township. DeEtte worked in Human Services at the courthouse and worked alongside her husband in the farming business. After retiring from farming in 1971, they made their home in Humboldt. DeEtte was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Enfield is survived by her daughter, Donette (Neil) Gadbury of Twin Lakes; son, Daryl Enfield of Ankeny; grandchildren, Richard Gadbury and Nichole Recker; great grandchildren, Evan and Grace Recker, Neil and Grey Gadbury; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Mable Erickson. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald in 1982; her parents; sisters, Goldie Koberg and Myrtle Grimminger; brothers, Ansel, Ray, Dale, Adrian, Earl, and Ernest Erickson; and her nephew, Cliff Erickson.
DeEtte loved spending time with her family, coffee with her friends and neighbors, and making beautiful quilts which she passed down to her family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the discretion of the family.
