DeLoris L. Newman, 89, of Dakota City, passed away February 4, 2011 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
DeLoris is survived by her children, Richard Nonwieler of Clear Lake; Ed (Tracy) Newman of Humboldt; Tom (Kathy) Newman of Clear Lake; Marj Grell of Loveland, CO; and Donna Smith of Waukee; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Losen Newman in 2006.
DeLoris L. Fjeld was born March 25, 1921 at Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was raised and educated in the Joyce and Lake Mills area. On December 13, 1969, she was united in marriage to Losen E. Newman and the couple made their home at Clear Lake until moving to Dakota City in 1972. In 2006, Mr. Newman passed away and she became a resident of the Humboldt North Care Center. DeLoris enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds. She also loved to care for her cats. She was a member of the Worthwhile Club and VFW Auxiliary.
