Denny Behnkendorf, 61 of Bradgate, passed away September 12, 2012 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. His funeral, together with his mother’s, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Interment will be in the Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City. Visitation is from 5 – 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Denny is survived by his sons, Michael (Melissa) of Fort Drum, NY and Aaron of Bradgate and his grandchildren, Alison and Elizabeth. Dennis is also survived by his sister, MaryAnn Walker (Don) of Springfield, MO; and his brothers James (Margaret) of Geneseo, IL, and Robert (Patricia) of Algona, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dennis Allen Behnkendorf, the son of Edward and Monica (Fouarge) Behnkendorf, was born on February 3, 1951. He graduated from Gilmore City – Bradgate High School in 1969. Following high school he was employed at Gilmore City Lumber for 3 years. In 1973 after driving trucks for L.B. Transport he started Behnkendorf Trucking. He was later employed by Lonergan Transport and Solar Transport until he medically retired in 2004.
Denny served in several positions for the city of Bradgate which included Town Marshall, city councilman and he was also a member of the fire department. He enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors, antique tractor pulls, tractor rides and watching NASCAR races and western movies. He enjoyed visiting with his friends in Bradgate and Gilmore City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to hospice.
