Dolores G. Hacker was called Home to be with the Lord Jesus and Loved Ones on Oct. 26, 2013.  Funeral Services will be Thursday Oct. 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Reverend Aaron Flatau officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Dolores Gretchen Schoon, the daughter of Bert and Jennie (Pruin) Schoon, was born November 6, 1928 on the family farm near Rolfe, IA.  Dolores was baptized into the Christian faith at First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City.  She was raised and educated in Pocahontas, Humboldt, and Calhoun Counties.  In 1946 she graduated from High School in Rinard, IA.  Dolores worked as a telephone operator in Emmetsburg until transferring to Fort Dodge.  She met Richard “Dick” Hacker and they were married on November 15, 1953 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.  Four children blessed this union:  Ricky, Donella, Shari and Timothy.  They were married for nearly 55 years and celebrated their  50th wedding anniversary among family and friends in 2003.  They made their home on farms in the Ottosen and Bradgate area, until moving into Humboldt in the fall of 1969.  In 1995 they moved to an apartment.  Dolores and Dick enjoyed traveling to see their children, grandchildren, family and friends.  They also enjoyed their card club of 40 years and serving as chairman and delivering meals-on-wheels.  Dolores and Dick raised several foster children.  Dolores had a strong faith in the Lord and together she and Dick served Zion’s Tape Ministry for about 16 years.  Dolores was a homemaker and had also cooked at the Senior Center.  Dolores cared for Dick at their apartment until his death on July 23, 2008 where she continued to maintain her home.  She enjoyed spending time with family, helping others, having cappuccino with friends and will especially be remembered for her sass, spunk and zest for life.

Dolores is lovingly remembered by her children: Rick (Connie) Hacker of Omaha, NE; Donella Hacker of Dakota City, IA; Shari (David) Sorensen of Iowa City, IA and Tim (Amy) Hacker of North Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren; Becky, Darrick, Cindy, Christine, Collene, Megan, Carrie, Blake, Kyle and their families and spouses.  Great-grandchildren; Heather, Jacob, Aubri, Cole, Callie, Ella and Miley.  Special family members; Leslie Crahan and Noi (Thanupakorn) Blakely and family; her foster children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Sisters: Janice and Alice.  She joins in Heaven her husband, Richard “Dick” in 2008, her parents, brothers; Lawrence and Donald; sister, Dorothy; her mother-in-law and father–in-law, Gurina and Chris and many loved ones.

Dolores was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt where she attended faithfully for over 44 years, she was also an honorary member of LWML, a former choir member and Bible school teacher.  She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rutland where she had served as a sub. Sunday School Superintendent, SS teacher, ladies aid, and at on time was church janitress.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Humboldt.
