Dolores Darlene Wergeland, the daughter of Marvin and Bernice (Butz) Johnson, was born August 25, 1934, in Eagle Grove, IA. She attended school in Eagle Grove graduating with the “Class of 1954”.
On June 20, 1954, Dolores was united in marriage to Marvin Wergeland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hardy. To this union three children were born: Cindy, Kim and Chris.
Dolores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hardy and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. She was a member of neighborhood clubs including T4U, Bridge Club and 500 card club. Dolores was also a member of Cosmopolitan Club, Red Hats, Community Chorus and the Women’s Circle at Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved cooking, baking, singing, sewing dresses and clothes for her children and drapes for her home, china painting, doll painting and shopping.
Dolores passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital at the age of 87 years.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Marvin Wergeland of Hardy; children, Cindy (Jeff) Pattison of Muscatine, Kim (Conley) Nelson of Algona, and Chris (Natalie) Wergeland of Hardy; grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike Van Atter) Pattison, Anna (Michael Matthews) Pattison, Mark (Amy) Nelson, Kara (Dan) Garman, Emilee Wergeland, John Wergeland and Ashlee Wergeland; great grandchildren: Claire, Ellis, Alaina, Hayden, Nile, Amara and Jordyn; sisters: Virginia Parrish, Marlene Vorland and Charlene Baker, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Marvin Johnson Jr., Bernard Johnson and John Johnson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Hardy. Memorials may be left to the family’s discretion.
