Donald W. Christensen, 80, passed away August 4, 2011 at his home in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Walden Paige officiating. Interment will be at Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home.
Don Wayne Christensen, the son of Thomas and Hannah (Hansen) Christensen was born November 4. 1930 in Humboldt. He graduated from Humboldt High School and then earned an accounting degree from Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City. Don served in the Navy from 1950 till 1954. On Sept. 5, 1954 Don married Shirley Mann, his high school sweetheart. Don was in the accounting department of different locations for over 37 years. Don retired in 1991 so he could spend more time with his hobbies and family. Don was one of the original members of the Model A Club of Humboldt and he restored two of his own cars. He loved to cook and grill and make special dishes for his family. Don also loved to fish, hunt (especially) ducks and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. Don loved following his grandchildren’s activities.
Don is survived by his wife, Shirley; son Bryan(Gloria) Christensen; daughter Melissa Christensen; grandchildren Katie and Kyle Christensen and sister Alice Warner. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd (Buck) Christensen, Alfred (Bob) Christensen; sisters; Luella Joiner, Leone Hollar, Irene Windrath and Bernice Cox.
