Donald Joseph Clarken, 90, of Humboldt, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, July 15, 2024 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Don was born August 26, 1933 to Henry Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Gilligan) Clarken. His early years were spent in the Clare, Iowa area but later moved with his family to Corwith, Iowa. Don graduated from Corwith Consolidated Schools. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served two years during the Korean Conflict stationed in New Mexico and California. Don was united in marriage to Donna Mae Gardner September 26, 1959. The couple made their home in Buffalo Center, Iowa, Jackson, Minnesota and moved to Humboldt in 1976. Don farmed with his father briefly but spent most of his life working in agricultural sales; Moorman Mfg., Farmers Co-op Elevator in Humboldt and cattle buying. Don was a talented baseball player/pitcher: He participated in 5 High School title games while in Corwith and played Minor League baseball earlier in life. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
He is survived by his children; Lisa Clark of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Lori (Rob) Brundige of Byron, Minnesota, Tom (Stephanie) Clarken of Stuart, Iowa, Teresa Muller of Atlantic, Iowa and Chris (Stacy) Clarken of Humboldt, Iowa. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Jill, Zak, Nick, Sara, Josh, Matthew, Molly, Abigail, Jack, Colby, Tyce, fifteen great-grandchildren, his sister JoAnn Bormann of Livermore, Iowa, his brothers; Mike (Edith) Clarken of Estherville, Iowa, Pat Clarken of Armstrong, Iowa, and Steve Clarken of Wilmington, North Carolina and his sister-in-law Karen Schissel of Algona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, daughter Tracy, son-in-law Scott Clark, grandson Cole Clarken, sister Alice Schroeder and brother Harold Clarken.
Don loved life, his family and friends. He will be remembered lovingly and greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 19th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
