Donald W. George, 87, of Humboldt, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 with family by his side at the Long Term Care Unit of Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Don was born on March 8, 1934 in Humboldt, the son of Frank and Pearl (Stevenson) George. He attended school in Rutland and graduated in 1952. He then worked for nearby farmers in the area until joining the Army in 1955 and being discharged in 1958. During his time in the Army, Don was united in marriage to Mary Ann Westberg on July 2, 1956 in South Carolina. After coming back from his military service, he worked for P&M Stone. The company was sold a handful of times before his retirement in 1996. Don then bought the Humboldt Liquor Store and later Butch’s Auto Sales, changing the name to Humboldt Auto & RV. After the businesses were dissolved, Don retired and remained retired. Don enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children Jeffrey (Karri) George of Humboldt, Curtis “Red” (Michelle) George of Ripon, California, Lisa (Tim) Bacon of Fort Dodge and Shawn (Andrea) George of Humboldt, sister-in-law Connie George of Williams, grandchildren Tawny (Jeff) Hoover, Ryan (Amber) Isaacson, Emily Laufersweiler, Heather (Mark) [Bacon] Farrell, Zachary George and Halie George, his great-grandchildren Coltin Hoover, Lillian Hoover, Kaylynn Isaacson, Nevaeh Isaacson and Tierany Isaacson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, his brothers Roger (Janette) George and Gene George, granddaughter April [Bacon] Montgomery and great-granddaughter Kayla [Bacon} Jones.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Burial with Military Rites by Sather’s-Odgaard American Legion will be in Union Cemetery. Humboldt.
