Donna Jean Seifried, 84, of Humboldt, passed away February 7, 2017 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home with Fr. Kenneth Seifried officiating. Interment will be in Marble Valley Cemetery, Gilmore City with lunch served immediately following at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City.
Donna Jean Seifried (Davis) was born on November 7, 1932, near Rolfe, Iowa, to Wade and Maude Taylor. She attended school in Fort Dodge, Pocahontas, and Gilmore City. She died February 7, 2017, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Iowa, with her family by her side.
Donna was united in marriage to Allen Ray Davis on June 28, 1948. They farmed and raised their family in rural Gilmore City, and later moved to Humboldt, Iowa. In addition to working on the family farm, cooking, gardening, and crocheting blankets for her family, her greatest passions were for country music, attending the Iowa State Fair, and spending time with her family particularly during birthday and holiday celebrations.
Allen passed away in 1990, and Donna was later married to Elmer Seifried on January 8, 1994. Donna and Elmer resided in Humboldt, Iowa. They enjoyed many year of traveling to Hawaii and Branson, attending the Clay County Fair, and attending their grandchildren and great grandchildren’s dance recitals, ball games, and birthday parties. For the last few years, Elmer and Donna were both residents of the Humboldt Care Center South.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; and her siblings: Gertie DeMoss, Opal Moser, Earl Taylor, D.N. Taylor, Pearl Moser, Iva Moser, Clyde Taylor, Joyce Myler-Miller, and Obie Taylor.
Donna is survived by her husband Elmer Seifried of Humboldt, IA, and his children Theresa (Shawn) Bittner of Britt, IA; Patty (Lynn) Schoon of Palmer, IA; grandson Brandon Schoon of Manson, IA and granddaughter Blair Schoon of Cedar Falls, IA; and Carol Seifried of Hallandale Beach, FL.
Son Randy (Tracy) Davis of Gilmore City, IA; granddaughter Laura (Derek) Tellier; great grandchildren Ava and Van of Minnetonka, MN; grandson Craig (Erin) Davis; great grandchildren Kresten and Reagan of Waterloo, IA.; and granddaughter Haley Davis of Gilmore City, IA.
Daughter Vickie Friedow of West Des Moines, IA; grandson Terry (Cecelia) Fisher; great grandchildren Allen Fisher, Alex Fisher, Christian Fisher, Kylee Reynolds, and Victoria Fisher of Houston, TX; granddaughter Alyssa (Chris) Sundell; great grandson Grant of West Des Moines, IA; and special family and friends Mark Friedow of Jefferson, IA, Forrest Friedow and family of Los Angeles, CA, and Justin Friedow and family of Belmond, IA.
Daughter Patti (Brad) Murray of Altoona, IA; granddaughter Brooke Spencer of Janesville, WI, grandson Treye Spencer of Altoona, IA; and special family and friends Bill Spencer of Altoona, IA, Jared Murray of West Des Moines, IA and Sara Murray of Denver, CO.
The family wants to express their gratitude to the Methodist West Hospital in Des Moines and the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital and Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days.
