Dorman “Dean” Shadle, 72, of Humboldt, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Dean was born April 20, 1952 in Fort Dodge, the son of Dorman Dean and Bonnie (Knowles) Shadle. He grew up in Dakota City and attended Humboldt Schools. At eighteen he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a tank engineer. Following his discharge he returned to the area and opened a welding shop in Bode. He obtained his GED and went on to further his education obtaining a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, making the Dean’s List every year. He owned and operated Compu Shop in Humboldt for a time and worked at Snap On Manufacturing in Algona until a work related accident forced him into retirement in 2001. Dean made his home in Dakota City and later Humboldt.
He is survived by his sons Chris Smith of Pomeroy and Dustin Shadle of Des Moines, his daughter Dixie(Latham) Hedeen of Breda, his grandchildren; Cayden, Kylar and Alex Smith, Connor Hudson, Laith Dorman, Kaylee Pamela and Rory Joseph Hedeen, his sister Pat (David) Stein of Dakota City and Rod Shadle of Humboldt.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11th at Union Cemetery in Humboldt with Monsignor Kevin McCoy, officiating. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
