Dorothea M. Watnem, 79, of Humboldt, passed away on Thursday evening, February 28, 2019 of Multiple Myeloma Cancer at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 4, 1939, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Arthur and Verna (Gardner) Fallesen. She was united in marriage to Bruce Watnem on September 29, 1957 in Rutland. The couple made their home in Humboldt, Livermore, Pocahontas and then returned to Humboldt. Dorothea worked for Anthony’s in Humboldt, then Pattee Clothing in Pocahontas and then Welcome Lady in Humboldt, retiring in 1991. She always had a smile for everyone. She was a member of the Our Saviour’s Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary, League of Postmaster’s Auxiliary and the Son’s of Norway. She enjoyed, Sewing, made her families clothing, working the fair stand for years and her grandchildren, family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bruce of Humboldt, her children, Dan (Lynn) Watnem of Siesta Key, Florida, Deb (Steve) Clark of Gloversville, New York, Angie (Kim) Jensen of Humboldt and Tim (Heather Chappel) Watnem of Sarasota, Florida, her grandchildren, Travis, Tanner (Lysa) and Trinity Watnem, Aimee Allen, Amber (Jeremy) Asklund, Cameron (Emily) Jensen, Chris (Liz) Watnem, Lily Chappel and 12 great-grandchildren, her brother, Louis Fallesen of Humboldt, her sister, Phyllis Gummerus and her sister-in-law, Linda Robison both of Fort Bragg, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Beverly and her brother, Gary.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Memorials in her name can be made to Unity Point Hospice in Humboldt. For more information
