Dorothy E. Kirchhof, 91, of Humboldt, formerly of Thor, died August 25, 2009 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Thor Lutheran Church with the Rev. Chris Lang officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mrs. Kirchhof is survived by her daughters, Jane (Philip) Turner of Fort Dodge, and Betty (Mickie) Reinertson of Huntington Beach, CA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Bernard (Beverly) Williams of Perry; and sister-in-law, Margaret Williams of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; and brother, James Williams.
Dorothy Ellen Kirchhof, the daughter of Charles and Minty Ellen (Roberts) Williams, was born August 20, 1918 in Palo Alto County, Iowa. She was raised and educated at Fort Dodge where she was united in marriage to Herbert Kirchhof on December 9, 1938. For a time, Dorothy was employed in the lunch room of Tobin Packing Company in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed together in Norway Township, Humboldt County all of their married lives. Mr. Kirchhof passed away in October of 1973 and Dorothy continued to farm and raise livestock. She made her home in Humboldt in 1991.
Dorothy was a member of the Thor Lutheran Church where she was active in ULCW and the sewing and quilting groups. She enjoyed card clubs, bowling, and participating in bus trips.
