Duane E. “Ed” Weers, 58, of Humboldt passed away Sunday at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with interment in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Weers is survived by his wife Tanie of Fort Dodge; sons Fred (Billie) of Humboldt, Edward (Leeila) of Humboldt, and Travis of Humboldt; grandchildren, Autumn, Peyton, and Noah Weers of Humboldt; brother, Billy Weers; sisters, Patty (Morris) Given, EyVonne (Greg) Engman, Caraline (Ray) Rhoads, and Coleen (Richard) Uvalle; 13 nieces and nephews; and 22 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Delores McEntie; and brother-in-law, Roy McEntie.
Duane Edward Weers, the son of Harm and Darlene (Fisher) Weers, was born January 22, 1951 at Webster City. He was raised and educated in the Stanhope and Stratford area and upon completion of his education joined the Armed Services. After his honorable discharge Ed made his home in Humboldt where he took up work designing fabricated homes. He was united in marriage to Karla Sorsome on August 13, 1976, from that union came three boys. That marriage was later dissolved. In 1984 Ed began selling cars and continued to do so until a few years ago when he retired due to health issues. On September 12, 2004 Ed was united in marriage to Tanacina Lebetis at Marathon and the two made their home in Humboldt. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and yardwork, he also enjoyed working with cars.
