Duke Edge

Duke Edge, 91, of Humboldt, passed away January 25, 2017 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt with Pastor Doug Wolter officiating. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery with full military rites by Adams American Legion Post 119 and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240. Visitation is from 12 – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Duke was born in Humboldt, Iowa on November 7, 1925. He attended Humboldt High School and graduated in 1944. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and established Edge Brothers Excavation, Inc.
Duke excelled in athletics, especially baseball. He was an avid fan of the Humboldt Wildcats and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Duke is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughters, Jane (Bob) Lee; Alecia (John) Sleiter, Michele (Tom) Knight, and Jennifer Edge; 7 grandchildren and spouses; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
