Dwane B. Konecne, 79, of Fort Dodge, passed away February 21, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. today at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Iowa.
Dwane is survived by his wife, Lois Konecne of Fort Dodge; his children, Dennis Konecne of Belton, MO, Steve (Judy) Konecne of Humboldt, Curtis (Chery) Konecne of Nashville, TN, Mike (Brenda) Konecne of Eagle Grove, Kathy (Mark) Petersen of Hardy, and Amy (Denny) Swanson of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Konecne of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Beulah Konecne of Corning; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Janette (Fudge) Konecne; his son, Justin Konecne; and his brothers, Orvalle (Ruby) Konecne, Joseph Konecne, and Gilbert (Luellen) Konecne.
Dwane Benjamin Konecne, the son of Ray and Janette (Fudge) Konecne, was born August 6, 1934 at Iowa City, Iowa. His parents brought him home to Corning, Iowa where he was raised and educated. Dwane graduated from Corning High School and at the age of 17, began trucking. On March 26, 1955, He was united in marriage to Lois Sharp at the Lutheran Parsonage at Corning. In 1974, the family moved to Humboldt where Dwane farmed and continued driving for various companies including the Hardy Elevator, Umthum Trucking, Smithway Trucking, and Abbas Trucking. Dwane logged over 2 million accident free miles during his long career and retired due to his health concerns. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed family camping trips. He enjoyed watching any and all sports on television, and in his younger years, participated in oval dirt track racing. Above all, Dwane loved the time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren.
