Humboldt- Henry “Hank” Edward Weck was born July 24, 1941, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the son of Edward Henry & Alice Mae (Hoffman) Weck. He graduated from high school in South River, New Jersey. He served as an Airman 1st class in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. On July 25, 1964, Hank was united in marriage to Geraldine Kielty in Jackson, Minnesota at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
After the Air Force he was a Customer Engineer for IBM and was transferred to the Fort Dodge, Iowa office in 1973, and was later a real estate agent for Caldwell Banker’s. Hank was a member of the Humboldt American Legion, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Humboldt and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed woodworking, driving the tractor, bird watching and being in the woods watching the wild life and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Hank died on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, at the age of 75 years.
He is survived by his wife Geri of Humboldt; two sons: Shawn (Angela) Weck of Kickapoo, IL and Erin (Dea) Weck of Williamsburg; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two brothers: Roger (Jean) Weck of Jackson, NJ and Allen (Carol) Weck of Jamesburg, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Fr. David Wilkening will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Mason Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Fr. Brian Danner will lead a short Prayer Service at 6:00 pm.
