Eldred G. Holden, 66, of Bode, passed away January 16, 2011 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode.  Visitation will  be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Bode.
Mr. Holden is survived by his wife, Ruby of Bode; son, John (Celeste) Schenone of Lake Havasu, AZ; grandchildren, Ashley Newberry of Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, and Trevor and Trent Schenone of Lake Havasu, AZ.  Also surviving are his mother, Pauline Holden of Bode; brothers, Ronald Holden of Holland, MI and Gary (Carol) Holden of Colorado Springs, CO; and sisters, Sandra (Wayne) Schulze of Valencia, CA and Diana (Bill) Garrison of Colorado Springs, CO.  His son, Allen Schenone; father, Seval Holden; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Holden preceded him in death.
Eldred G. Holden, the son of Seval and Pauline Holden, was born January 6, 1945 at Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He was raised and educated at Bode and graduated from Twin Rivers High School in 1963.  He attended IBM School and was employed by Control Data Corporation in Minneapolis.  He then enlisted into the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War from 1967 – 1971.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Bode where he began his farming operations.  On April 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to Ruby Durbin at Kansas City, Missouri and the couple made their home at Bode.  In addition to farming, Eldred also served as a hail and Federal Crop Adjuster for 33 years.
Eldred was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.  He was also a member of the Elks where he served as Exalted Ruler and was active in the Elks “Hoop Shoot” serving on the State Committee, Northwest District Chairman and participated on the regional level.  An avid outdoorsman, Eldred enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, and fishing.
