Eleanor Lowe, 93, of Humboldt, passed away June 11,
2014 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Graveside
services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lake Lutheran
Cemetery nearRenwick. Worship services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Gene Broughton Officiating. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Eleanor is survived by her three children, Gary (Janell) Lowe of Humboldt, Sharon Porter of Oskaloosa, and Richard Lowe of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Kurt, Kevin, and Kelly Lowe, Brian Reed, and Paula Roja, Jeff Brown, and Jason, Kristi, Michael, and Andrea Lowe; step grandchildren, Richard Lauritsen and Stephanie Clarken; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and 6 step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale; daughter-in-law, Peggy Lowe; son-in-law, Gale Porter; brothers, Clifford, Raymond, Kermit, Earnest, and Mervin Thompson; and sisters, Esther Westling, Marie Crouse, and Manda Lowe.
Eleanor Thompson, the daughter of Clarence and Rose (Valvick) Thompson, was born August 24, 1920 on a farm in Beaver Township north of Badger and attended country school through the 8th grade. She married Gale Lowe on October 25, 1942 in Kirksville, Missouri.
Eleanor and Gale lived on a farm near Clarion until 1961 when they moved to the Renwick area. She cleaned houses for several people and cleaned the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Renwick for several years. She was a member of Lake Lutheran Church at Renwick until Gale’s death in February of 1992 when she moved to Humboldt and became a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Her joys were her family, playing bingo, working on word puzzles and going out to eat with her friend Helen Dodd. She will be greatly missed.
