Betty P. Thul, 96 of Humboldt, passed away on Friday morning, August 16, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 18, 1922, the daughter of George and Amelia (Elsbecker) Foth. She grew up in Bancroft and graduated from St. John’s High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Richard (Casey) G. Thul on October 15, 1946. The couple made their home on a farm west of Algona, then moved to the family farm near Bode in 1957. In 1990, they retired and moved to Humboldt. Betty enjoyed playing cards with Casey and her grandchildren, gardening and tending her flowers and traveling with her husband. Betty was an accomplished quilter, making many quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Georgia Elbert of West Bend, Jan Olson of Humboldt, Lori (Dan) Geelan of Ruthven and Jon Thul of Bode, eleven grandchildren, Mark Elbert, Melissa Bixler, Mitch Elbert, Molly Johnson, Lee Thul, Julie Ostby, Jeremy Olson, Joshua Olson, Bryan Geelan, Brett Geelan and Bradley Geelan, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, her sisters-in-law, Rita Plathe of Algona and Joyce Foth of Livermore. She was preceded in death by her husband Casey, her infant daughter Julie, her brothers Gordon, Dick and Alan, her sisters Marge and Mae, and her sons-in-law Mark Elbert & Dennis Olson .
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August, 20th from 5:00 – 8;00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:45 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m. all at Mason Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21st at St. Mary Catholic Church, Humboldt. Burial will in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt.
