Ellen Ann Barmore, of Humboldt, died on Sunday September 7, 2014, at the Paula J Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Ellen has lived in Humboldt with her husband of 66 years, Earl Barmore since 1954 where she raised her family, practiced her faith and enjoyed a long and happy life. She was 88 years old at the time of her death.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. James Tigges, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt. A parish Rosary will be 4:45 Tuesday followed by visitation with the family from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ellen was born in Clare, Iowa on May 18, 1926 to George and Ella Meyer. She grew up and attended school at St. Mathews. Ellen graduated from St. Mathews in 1944. Following graduation she moved to Fort Dodge and went to work for The State Bank. She married Earl on February 10, 1948. She and Earl lived in Fort Dodge until 1954 and then moved to Humboldt into a house that he built for her. There she raised her three children and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She worked at the Humboldt Creamery, Fagen Furniture, Martin Miller Furniture, and The Village Cobbler shoe store at various times during her life in Humboldt.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Earl; her son, Ron (Kathy) Barmore of Acworth, GA; daughter, Sandy (Buzz) Carroll of Rosemount, MN; and her son, Greg (Sue) Barmore of Prior Lake, MN. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Stewart, Dani (Paul) Grande, Aimee (Dan) Kamrath, and Aaron Barmore. Ellen has four great-grandchildren, Tyler Breitbach, Bailey Stewart, Zack Stewart, and RJ Kamrath. Ellen has one surviving sister, Jean Wellen of Humboldt, and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her son, Timothy; grandson, Michael; her parents; sisters, Althea Meyer, Kay Coffman, and Margaret Williams; and brothers, Cliff Meyer, Paul Meyer, and Don Meyer.
