Ellen E. Schorzmann

Ellen E. Schorzmann, 82, of Dakota City, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

She was born in Alpena, South Dakota, the daughter of Theophil and Leona (Wahl) Bauer. She was raised in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School. She was united in marriage to Duane Schorzmann on May 19, 1956 in Huron, South Dakota. Duane would establish and manage farm stores so they made their homes in Huron and later Gregory and Mitchell, South Dakota, Sioux City and Webster City before moving to Dakota City. Ellen managed the Casey’s Store in Dakota City from the early 1980’s until retiring in the early 1990’s. She especially enjoyed time with her family and extended family, cooking, baking, and was very adventurous, even sky diving later in life.

She is survived by her children, LaRae (Alan) Pedersen of Humboldt, Steven Schorzmann of Duncombe, Leslie (Roger) Renken-McNeill of Humboldt, Todd (Pam) Schorzmann of Helena, Alabama, Lisa (Pat) Black of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Marlene Caffee of Surprise, Arizona, Denise (Barry) Corell of North Pole, Alaska and her brother, Dennis (Nancy) Bauer of Eugene, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane and her sister, Arlas.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15th and the Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16th both at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. www.masonlindhart.com
