Elvira Larsen, 93, of Humboldt, formerly of Bradgate, passed away September 17, 2011 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Elvira P. Hundertmark, the daughter of William F. and Geneva (Jolliffe) Hundertmark, was born August 8, 1918 near Ottosen, Iowa. She attended school at West Bend and following her education was employed as a housekeeper for Inga McCurry at Bradgate. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Larsen on December 1, 1938 and the couple made their home on the family farm Northeast of Bradgate.
Elvira was proud to be a true farmers wife and helped her husband whenever needed. I addition to her work on the farm, Elvira was an accomplished baker and for twenty years, professionally created wedding cakes. She was a long time active member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Rutland. She loved the outdoors and stayed active with gardening and caring for her flowers. She had many interests and hobbies, which included painting pictures, quilting, and making dolls.
Mr. Larsen passed away in 1980 and Elvira soon made her home at Bradgate. She remained there until moving to Humboldt in 2003. In February of 2008 she became a resident of The Humboldt South Care Center until moving to Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in September of that year. She passed away there on the morning of September 17, 2011 at the age of 93.
Mrs. Larsen is survived by her sons, Roy (Jan) Larsen of Simi Valley, CA, Rolland Larsen of Humboldt, and DeLane (Pat) Larsen of Humboldt; daughter-in-law, Linda Larsen of Humboldt; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and brother, Cletus Hundertmark of Ottosen. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; son, Gaylen Larsen; grandson, Bill Larsen; twin grandchildren; brothers, Norval and Ferris Hundertmark; and an infant brother, Vaden Hundertmark.
