Ernest O. Jenson, 98, of Bode, passed away November 3, 2012 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. Visitation is from 11:30 – 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 75 years, Marjorie Jenson; his son and daughter in law, Jerry and Janet “Jan” Jenson of Arvada, CO; four grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gustav Jenson; son Keith Jenson in 2008; grandson Steven Jenson in 2012; brothers, Arthur, Hartwick, Glen, and Gordon; sister, Lorna Stith; and twin sisters, Lorna and Lucille.
Ernest O. Jenson, the son of John and Gustav Jenson was born April 26, 1914 at Bode, Iowa. He was raised and educated at Bode where he was baptized and confirmed in St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Oakland in the Liberty Lutheran Church at Rake, Iowa in 1937. The couple farmed together in the Bode area until 1957. They then moved to Fort Dodge where Ernest was employed by Lutheran Hospital for 13 years and for Gates Department Store for 4 years.
In 1972, the couple moved to Denver, Colorado. He was employed by Boise Cascade/Richardson Lumber where he fabricated Anderson Windows. Following a decline in his health, he and Marge returned to Bode.
Ernest was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode and a past member of the American Lutheran Church in Denver and St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge where he served as usher, deacon, and where ever he was needed. He enjoyed the time he spent in the Rocky Mountains and often referred to them as some of the best times of his life especially those spent with his grandchildren.
