Esther E. Abels, 88, of Kanawha, went home to be with her Lord on May 3, 2010 at the Wright County Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Esther is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Dirk J. Abels of Kanawha; daughter, Sharon E. Kraft of Kanawha; son, Robert E. (Kathy) Baxter of Plymouth; and daughter, Marilyn (Kevin) Lehrman of Goldfield; grandchildren, Susan (Shawn) Malek-zadegan of Chanhassen, MN, Bruce (Jerilyn) Kraft of Chanhassen, MN, Annette (John) Easter of Phoenix, AZ, Angelique (Joe) Andrade of Exeter, NH, Laura (William) Schaffer of Humboldt, and Gregory (Courtney) Lehrman of Altoona; great grandchildren,, Michelle and Matthew Malek-zadegan, Allison, Nathan, and Clarissa Kraft, Nicholas and Douglas Andrade, and Amanda, Jonathon, and Emily Schaffer. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lola Hampson; and brothers, Robert Lyle Clark, Lloyd Clark, Laurence Ardis Clark, and Lee M. Clark.
Esther Elizabeth (Clark) Abels, the daughter of Robert and W. Emmaline (Fleener) Clark, was born June 28, 1921 in Marathon, Iowa. She graduated from Ruthven High School in 1939.
Esther dearly loved her family. Saturday nights at the farm for Pizza get-togethers and playing games were a special time that will be long remembered by her grandchildren along with her cookies. She was a lady with a wonderful sense of humor and lots of spunk. who was compassionate and always ready to share. Esther enjoyed card playing, dominos and family summer vacations.
