Ethel B. Tokheim, 93, of Humboldt, formerly of Thor, passed away March 5, 2010 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will begin at 12:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ethel Bernice Helvik, the daughter of John and Bertha (Murdock) Helvik, was born January 8, 1917 near Thor. She was raised near Thor and attended school at Thor. She was united in marriage to Alfred W. Tokheim on January 3, 1937 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home at Thor all of their married lives. Following Mr. Tokheim’s death, Ethel continued to maintain her home at Thor until moving to Humboldt Homes. She then became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. She passed away there on the evening of March 5, 2010 at the age of 93.
Ethel always enjoyed caring for her cats. She also enjoyed shopping, coffee with her sister, and while at the Long Term Care she enjoyed church service and bingo.
Mrs. Tokheim is survived by her children, Norma (Leonard) Mickelson of Duncombe and Dale (Judy) Tokheim of Humboldt; grandchildren, Dan (Nancy) Mickelson of Woolstock, Jody (Dave) Probst of Lehigh, Jennifer (Rick) Hoefer of Humboldt, Stacy (Chris) Clarken of Humboldt, and Courtney (Boyce) Harris of Humboldt; great grandchildren, Bradley Mickelson, Ryan (Erin) Mickelson, Miles and Amanda Probst, Talon and Jayda Hoefer, Colby and Tyce Clarken, and Treyton, Mia, and Sophia Harris; great-great grandson Carter Mickelson; and her sister, Frances Fevold of Badger. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; and her brother, Arthur.
