Funeral services for Eugene Julius, 85, of Humboldt, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.
Mr. Julius is survived by his sons, Ron (Rita) of Humboldt and Gary (Luann) of Humboldt; grandchildren, Tracey (Hugh) Skjeveland, Kelly (Dave) Prescott, Landon (Nicole) Julius, Brooke Julius, Alecia (Chad) Raymer, Laurie (Cody) Collins, Erin Julius, and Scott Julius; great-grandchildren, Makena, Conner, Parker, Lauren, and Evan; brothers, Eldon (Dorothy) of Albuquerque, NM, Marvin (Maxine) of Ames; sister, Maxine (Paul) Barrett. He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Phyllis.
Eugene B. Julius, the son of Alfred and Anna (Behrends) Julius, was born July 27, 1925 in rural Pocahontas County. He graduated from Manson High School and upon finishing his education served in the Navy during WWII. Following his honorable discharge Eugene moved back to the Humboldt area. On June 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Tinken. The couple made their home outside of Humboldt where they farmed. In 1984 the Julius’s moved into Humboldt and Eugene continued to help his sons with the farming operation. Mrs. Julius passed away in 1999. Mr. Julius was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Humboldt. He enjoyed socializing with friends at the VFW, as well as, bowling in his earlier years.
